Running With Heart

Liverpool Heartbeat standing beside Alex and supporting Centre 56

I’m so proud of my friend Alex, and I’d love everyone in the Liverpool Heartbeat family to get behind him for something truly special.

After two incredible years, Running the Railways is back for its third challenge — sponsored by Clan Contracting and delivered with Merseyrail. And this time, Alex and an amazing team of runners are taking on something huge to support Centre 56.

From 5pm on Friday 26th June, they’ll be running 5k every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours — covering the route between Freshfields and Formby stations. That’s 120km in total, almost three marathons back‑to‑back, all to raise £24,000 for children and families who’ve experienced domestic abuse.

I’ve seen how much heart Alex puts into this. The whole team is running to help keep children safe — something Centre 56 has been doing for over 50 years. Their work gives little ones a place to feel secure again, to play, learn, and rebuild confidence after trauma. It’s care that changes lives.

If you can support them, it would mean the world.

Every donation — big or small — helps a child feel safe enough to grow again.

And if donating isn’t possible, there are still so many ways to get involved, from volunteering to fundraising. Just reach out to Alex at hello@centre56.org.uk.

Let’s show Alex and the team the full strength of Liverpool — heart first, always.
