Medals Presented in Wallasey Skill Sets

Liverpool Heartbeat was pleased to once again support Liam Hanlon, President of Wallasey Boxing Club, by presenting the John Hulley medals to the eight boxers taking part in the skill sets.

This year, the medals were presented by Lord Lieutenant Peter Oliver, together with Liverpool Heartbeat founder Robin Baynes MBE — a proud moment for everyone involved.

The skill sets are designed for beginners, offering a positive and encouraging introduction to the sport. In each of the four skill sets, both boxers receive medals, recognising their effort and progress. There are no losers — only young athletes celebrated for their commitment and development.

The 2026 Awards Gala

The air was electric—literally—as Elektric Apple Theatre Group and Ovation Performers joined forces for a spectacular 1920s-themed Awards Night on Friday, February 6th. At the Devonshire Hotel.

The venue was transformed into a Gatsby-esque wonderland, with guests dressed to the nines in flapper dresses, sharp suits, and feathers, creating a truly fabulous atmosphere.

This evening wasn't just about the awards; it was a celebration of a unique and powerful creative bond. Elektric Apple, our trailblazing disabled theatre company, and Ovation Performers theatre school, proved once again why their frequent collaborations are so special.

The "family feel" of the night was undeniable, showcasing the inclusive, supportive community these performers have built through years of shared productions.

We were privileged to welcome a host of distinguished guests who joined us to celebrate the achievements of our talented performers:

The heart of the evening was the presentation ceremony. Many awards and certificates including the Liverpool Heartbeat award were handed out to recognize the hard work, growth, and undeniable talent shown by the members of both groups over the past year.

A particularly poignant moment of the night was the presentation of the Brenda Baynes Courage Award. This special honor highlights the resilience and determination that sits at the core of our theatre community, celebrating an individual who has shown extraordinary spirit.

The entire event was meticulously curated and organized by Nicola Broadley, Elektric Apple's Director and Artistic Producer. Nicola’s vision ensured that every detail—from the 1920s decor to the smooth running of the presentations—was perfect.

Once the formal presentations concluded, the party truly began! The room shifted into a high-energy casino night. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly "The Wheel" competition game. It was a hit with everyone in attendance, sparking friendly rivalry and plenty of laughter as guests tried their luck.

As I sit here reflecting on the moment you docked ‘Gill’ your boat to safety after 3,162 miles across the Atlantic, my heart is full to bursting with a mix of pride, awe, and the quiet ache that comes when something truly extraordinary reaches its end.

You did it. You completed World's Toughest Row unsupported, as the youngest mixed gender trio ever to row any ocean in history.

That record isn’t just a line in a logbook it’s a beacon, proof that youth, determination, and heart can conquer what most would never even dream of attempting.

But this journey was never just about the oars dipping into the waves or the miles ticking by. It was about you three trusting each other through storms that tested body and soul, through nights when the ocean felt endless and unforgiving. And from the very first day you shared your wild vision with me, I knew this was something special something worth every ounce of effort to bring to life.

As your Partnership Director and Mentor, I’ve spent a lifetime gathering remarkable, kind, generous souls who see possibility where others see only risk.

I’ve always believed that the greatest adventures aren’t solo flights; they’re symphonies built from collaboration, from one person saying “yes” when another says “I believe in this.” With you, that belief came alive. Partners stepped forward, communities rallied, friends became family, and together we turned a dream into a movement. Your courage inspired them, and their support lifted you across that vast blue expanse.

And then there’s the fundraising over £50,000 raised for Teenage Cancer Trust. That number isn’t cold statistics; it’s lives touched, families supported, young people given hope in their darkest hours. One of you lost a classmate far too soon, and you turned that pain into purpose. Every pound, every donation, every shared story carried her memory forward and reminded us why we push ourselves beyond comfort: to make the world a little kinder, a little brighter for those who need it most.

You’ve proven that true strength isn’t just physical it’s emotional, it’s communal, it’s the quiet resolve to keep going for something bigger than yourself.

As this chapter closes and you step back onto solid ground, carry this one timeless truth with you into whatever comes next: it takes a village to raise a child. You three were raised by a village of supporters, believers, donors, dreamers, and doers who saw your spark and fanned it into flame.

Now, as you grow into the next phase of your lives, pass that wisdom on. Be the village for others. Mentor the young, lift the weary, gather the remarkable around the next impossible dream.

Standing here, taking in these views, the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. You can feel the history in every beam, every stone, every ripple on the water.

Bernie and I are now counting down the hours.

Tomorrow, The Three Flying Fish row into this iconic harbour — completing the Atlantic, the world’s toughest row.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

What a moment this will be for them… and for all of us cheering them home.

Sophie isn’t just entertaining the world with her incredible voice—she’s carrying the spirit of Liverpool Heartbeat across oceans. Her dedication, warmth, and talent embody everything we stand for. Whether she’s singing under Brazilian skies or mentoring young voices back home, Sophie is the beating heart of our charity.

Peace Tops Children's Word of the Year

The Children have Spoken

This morning, while flicking through the i Newspaper over a cup of tea, I came across something that stopped me in my tracks. “Peace is the word, according to Oxford,” the headline read. It turns out that peace has been crowned Oxford’s Children’s Word of the Year for 2025—chosen by 35% of children across the UK, aged six to fourteen. That’s more than AI, more than resilience. Peace.

I sat back and smiled. Not just because it’s a beautiful word, but because it’s one we’ve been championing all year through Liverpool Heartbeat. From our school workshops to community events, we’ve been planting seeds—encouraging young people to think about peace not just as the absence of conflict, but as something active, something they can build in their own lives and communities.

Seeing this national headline felt like a quiet confirmation of everything we’ve been working towards.

When we unveiled the Peace Wall at the Beatles Museum earlier in 2025 year, we hoped it would become a place where children and families could pause, reflect, and add their own messages of hope. And when hundreds of voices came together at the ‘Give Peace a Chance’ concert in September 2025 at the Tung Auditorium, it felt like Liverpool itself was singing the message back to the world.

To see that same message echoed so clearly in the voices of thousands of children across the country… well, it’s humbling. It tells me we’re on the right path. That the next generation is listening, thinking, and yearning for something better. And it reminds me why we do what we do—not for headlines, but for moments like this, when the spirit of peace takes root and begins to grow.

Let’s keep going. The children have spoken.

The Liverpool theatre scene is about to get a whole lot more mysterious—and a lot more hilarious. The Elektric Apple, a vibrant and trailblazing disabled theatre group, is returning to the stage with their latest original production.

Known for breaking barriers and delivering high-energy performances, this group has built a formidable reputation both locally and nationally. From the prestigious stages of the Edinburgh Fringe to community hubs across the North West, The Elektric Apple proves that talent knows no bounds.

What sets The Elektric Apple apart is their commitment to fresh, homegrown storytelling. Under the creative vision of Art Director Nicola Broadley, the group performs entirely original scripts tailored to their unique flair.

Their portfolio is as diverse as it is imaginative, including past hits like:

Wizard of Otterspool: A whimsical local twist on a classic tale.

Scouse Side Story: A gritty, witty, and uniquely Liverpool take on musical drama.

Scissor Happy : A sharp-witted production that kept audiences on the edge of their seats.

Their latest venture takes us to the breezy (and slightly suspicious) shores of Blackpool.

 "That’s The Way To Do It" is a comedy murder mystery set within the nostalgic, kitschy world of a Blackpool holiday camp.

Expect more than just a "Punch and Judy" show—this production is packed with twists, turns, and deep-seated intrigue. As the plot thickens between the chalets and the chips, the audience is invited to play detective. Can you guess who did it before the final curtain falls?

John Hulley: Liverpool’s Hidden Architect of the Olympic Movement

John Hulley’s story is one of those brilliant, half-forgotten sparks that quietly shaped the world we know today. Long before the Olympic rings became a global symbol, Hulley was in Liverpool championing physical education as a force for public good and staging ambitious “Olympic Festivals” that brought whole communities together.

In 1865 he co‑founded the National Olympian Association — a direct forerunner of today’s British Olympic Association — alongside William Penny Brookes and Ernst Ravenstein

What makes Hulley remarkable isn’t just the events he organised, but the philosophy he pushed into the national bloodstream: that sport should be open, uplifting, and a pathway to a healthier society.

His festivals, gymnasia, and public campaigns laid the groundwork for the amateur ideals that later inspired Pierre de Coubertin and helped shape the modern Olympic Movement

It captures a beautiful moment at the Liverpool Lighthouse Christmas event—our young ambassador Amora sitting proudly with her mum and dad, Nicky and Mike, who gave their day to become Mr & Mrs Santa Claws for the children and families who came through the doors.

You can see the joy in Amora’s face, and the love radiating from her parents. That’s the heartbeat of Liverpool Heartbeat right there: family, community, and giving back.

Nicky and Mike didn’t just dress up—they brought magic. They volunteered their time, their warmth, and their festive sparkle to make this day unforgettable. And Amora, well, she’s growing into such a thoughtful, spirited ambassador. We’re so proud of her.

To help make this celebration happen, Liverpool Heartbeat donated £1,000 to the Lighthouse. It’s more than a party—it’s a lifeline of joy, connection, and hope for families who need it most. We believe in the power of moments like this. We believe in people like Amora, Nicky, and Mike.

Today we had the joy of taking 50 children, parents and carers from New Start Homes, Lighthouse, Luminer and Elektric Apple to Chester Zoo — our final gift of 2025, and what a gift it was.

But the real magic wasn’t just in the animals.

These children, these families, these brilliant humans — they carry so much. Today, they got to carry wonder instead.

And as we headed home, tired and glowing, it felt clear: - This wasn’t just a day out. It was a reminder of what happens when people are seen, supported, and lifted.

The last gift of 2025… but the kind that keeps echoing long after the gates closed.

Rowing the Atlantic

I’m proud to share that Liverpool Heartbeat is supporting three incredible young people as they take on the 2025 World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic .

On December 10th, Anna Dunk (19), Harry Allen (19), and Rowan Dally (21) will set off from San Sebastián de La Gomera in the Canary Islands, rowing their boat "Gill" - all the way to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua. That’s 3,000 miles of open ocean — waves taller than houses, scorching days, pitch‑black nights, and the kind of endurance that pushes human limits.

This year’s race brings together 48 teams, 114 rowers from 20 nations, competing in solos, doubles, triples, quads, and even one team of five. Each team has had to raise around £150,000 to prepare their boat, gear, and logistics. But beyond the numbers, every crew rows with a purpose — to inspire, to fundraise, and to prove what’s possible when determination meets heart.

Liverpool Heartbeat is proud to sponsor the nutrition for these inspirational young people. It might sound like a small detail, but out there, food is fuel, and fuel is survival. Every calorie counts when you’re rowing day and night, battling storms, and chasing the horizon.

For Anna, Harry, and Rowan, this is more than a race. It’s a test of courage, teamwork, and resilience. For me, it’s about showing young people that with the right support, they can take on the world — literally.

So as they set off across the Atlantic, I’ll be cheering every stroke, knowing that Liverpool’s heartbeat is carried with them. Their journey is proof that adventure, grit, and community spirit can cross oceans.

Over the past few days, David Graham’s Natural High Tour has touched hearts across Merseyside. From the slogans written by pupils in just a few minutes, to the humbling messages from teachers, the response has been nothing short of inspiring.

Yesterday was a very special day at Roy Basnett and Claire Campbell’s Podcast Studio. I had the privilege of sitting alongside Billy J Kramer, who shared such heartfelt memories of his life in the music scene of the Sixties.

Listening to him talk about his time with John Lennon, Cilla, and the vibrant Merseyside music community was like stepping back into a golden era of Liverpool’s story.

I’m delighted to share that Billy J Kramer is now becoming an ambassador for Liverpool Heartbeat. His passion for young people, creativity, and the city’s legacy shines through, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome him into our family.

This was only a glimpse of what’s to come. The full podcast will be released soon, and I can’t wait for you to hear Billy’s stories in his own words. It’s a celebration of Liverpool, of music, and of the heartbeat that connects us all.

Celebrating 25 Years of Tri-4-Life Service

As chairman of Liverpool Heartbeat, I was deeply moved to see fifteen members of the Tri-4-Life Team honoured for their 25 years of dedicated service.

It is a remarkable milestone, and one that speaks not only to endurance and commitment, but to the spirit of friendship and community that has carried this team through so many challenges.

My own contribution to this journey began back in 2003, when the seeds of the first Tri-4-Life Challenge were planted. By 2006, we had raised £40,000, with £18,000 given in kind. Generous support came in many forms—sports kit from Asics, the free use of a minibus, and even 2,000 bottles of water. Each gift, whether financial or practical, was a vital part of making the challenge possible.

The Dipper Mini Bus became something of a companion to the team. Its maiden voyage took us to Austria for the Austrian Iron Man, and from then on it was a faithful servant. In 2006, it carried those 2,000 bottles of water to Brussels, marking the finish of the European Challenge—a feat that began with cycling from John O’Groats, continued with swimming the English Channel, and ended with a run into Brussels.

Over the years, the Dipper was called upon time and again: for the Four Peaks Challenge, the Seven Extreme Swims, and countless other adventures. It was more than a vehicle; it was a symbol of the team’s resourcefulness and determination, always ready to carry us forward.

Looking back, I feel immense pride in what has been achieved and gratitude for the friendships forged along the way. The link with Liam Hanlon, leader of Tri-4-Life, has been a cornerstone of this journey, and I hope it continues for many years to come.

Tri-4-Life is more than a team—it is a family bound by shared challenges, laughter, and the belief that together we can achieve the extraordinary.

John Hulley Film Premiere

On Friday, 7th November, I had the privilege of attending The John Hulley Film Premiere at the Devonshire House Hotel surrounded by so many familiar and friendly faces, each connected by a shared love for Liverpool, its people and its stories.

The event was beautifully organised by the inspirational Robin Baynes MBE and the passionate team from Liverpool Heartbeat, whose energy and dedication radiated throughout the evening. From the moment I walked in, there was a real sense of warmth, pride and community.

Before the film began, we were treated to an array of live entertainment from some truly gifted artists and young performers. Each performance carried its own emotion, from joy and hope to reflection and gratitude, and together they highlighted the transformative power of creativity and community.

Then came the film itself 'The John Hulley Story'. More than just a film, it was a celebration of life, purpose and legacy. There were moments that made you smile, moments that made you pause, and moments that genuinely stirred emotion in the room.

Hearing Robyn’s reflections afterwards was deeply moving. His humility, compassion and unwavering belief in the power of community shone through every word. Robyn is not only a true inspiration, but also a true gentleman and an ambassador for Liverpool!

Last night was a vivid reminder of why community matters, why connection is importnant and why the work we do at Spark Youth is essential. I left feeling inspired, reflective and more committed than ever to supporting young people to achieve their potential.

We did it! Liverpool Heartbeat has been honoured with the Special Recognition Award at the Good Small Business Awards 2025—and I’m still beaming with pride.

I’m Robin Baynes, Chairperson of Liverpool Heartbeat, and I’m writing this with a full heart and a huge smile. On Friday night, surrounded by some of the UK’s most inspiring changemakers, we were named the winner of the Special Recognition Award at the Good Small Business Awards 2025.

What a moment.

What a night.

Held at Liverpool’s stunning "The Liner Hotel" , the gateway to the world. The evening was a celebration of purpose driven businesses, those who go beyond profit to make a real difference. The room was buzzing with passion, innovation, and community spirit and right there, in the heart of it all, was Liverpool Heartbeat .

When our name was called, I was genuinely taken aback. This award isn’t just a trophy, it’s a tribute to every young person we’ve supported, every school we’ve partnered with, and every volunteer who’s given their time and heart to our mission. It’s recognition that creativity, education, and wellbeing can and should go hand in hand.

For over two decades, Liverpool Heartbeat has championed youth empowerment through arts, sport, and storytelling. We’ve helped young people find their voice, their confidence, and their place in the world. Whether it’s through comic books that teach resilience, music projects that build self-esteem, or community events that bring generations together, we’ve always believed in the power of positive influence.

To be recognised on a national stage, among such incredible organisations, is deeply humbling. I want to thank the Good Small Business Awards for shining a light on the work that often happens quietly, behind the scenes. Yesterday’s clash with Forefield was a proper battle. Though the result didn’t swing our way, the lads showed real promise — especially off the ball, where their discipline and shape were spot on. We carved out plenty of chances and kept the pressure on throughout. A narrow loss, yes — but packed with positives

Special mention to Jacob, our Player of the Match. As central midfielder, he was everywhere — calm under pressure, sharp in transition, and absolutely tireless. He did everything asked of him and more. A standout performance.

For over twenty years, David and I have shared a mission: to help young people discover the joy, confidence, and purpose that comes from using their talents to live a healthy, fulfilled life.

Through music, storytelling, and interactive competitions—MIND, SPORTS, and FAME—David empowers students to find their own “natural high” and reject negative influences.

Here in Merseyside, we’ve seen firsthand the impact. Pupils leave his sessions buzzing with energy, pride, and a renewed sense of possibility. Whether it’s a Year 6 student discovering their voice, or a Year 8 pupil stepping into leadership, David’s message lands with heart and humour.

3 ^rd – Drugs are taken every day, “they’ll make you look cool” is what friends may say, but remember taking drugs is a crime, yet unfortunately it happens all the time.

The John Hulley Story Hits the Big Screen This November!” ��

At long last, the flame is lit for one of Liverpool’s greatest unsung heroes.

On November 6th , the world will finally meet John Hulley —the visionary Victorian who helped spark the Olympic dream, yet whose name has too long been lost in the shadows of history. But not anymore. I filmed the above clip this week following a trip to watch rehersals.

This epic new film brings Hulley’s remarkable life to light.

He was a man of passion, purpose, and perseverance who believed in the power of sport to unite, uplift, and inspire. Long before the Olympic rings became a global symbol, Hulley was championing physical education, organising international competitions, and laying the groundwork for what would become the modern Games.

Born and bred in Liverpool, Hulley’s legacy is our legacy. And now, thanks to this powerful cinematic tribute, his story will echo far beyond Merseyside.

At Liverpool Heartbeat, we’ve always believed in celebrating the spirit of our city—its courage, creativity, and compassion. John Hulley embodied all three. This film isn’t just a biography—it’s a homecoming.

Labour Conference Opens with Stirring Call for Hillsborough Law

I was deeply honoured today to attend the opening of the Labour Party Conference here in our beloved city of Liverpool, standing in solidarity with the campaign for the Hillsborough Law. It was a moment of profound emotion and unity, as the voices of justice rang out through the power of song.

The performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” was led with incredible grace and passion by Nicky Broadley, Joe Spear, Amora Broadley, and the magnificent Liverpool Show Choir. Their voices carried not just melody, but meaning—echoing the resilience, dignity, and unwavering spirit of the families and communities who have fought for truth and accountability for so long.

I was there not just as a supporter, but proudly as the Choir’s Mascot—a role I cherish deeply. To be part of such a moving tribute, surrounded by people who care so deeply about justice and community, reminded me once again why Liverpool Heartbeat exists: to inspire, to educate, and to stand up for what’s right.

Today wasn’t just about politics—it was about people. About honouring those we’ve lost, supporting those who continue to fight, and reminding ourselves that in Liverpool, we walk together. Always.

What a day!

Kirkby Valley Golf Club was the venue for this year’s John Hulley Cup.

The day proved a great success and was enjoyed by all participants.!

Some excellent scores were returned, none more so than from winner !

Gary McGuire (14 handicap) who secured the John Hulley Cup with a

score of 43 points. !

Damian Marlow (12 handicap) ﬁlled the runner-up position with a score of!

41 points. !

Third place went to Jason Kirwin (11 handicap) after a card count-back

with Scott Elliott, Geoﬀ Holgate, Keith Brown all having scored 38 points.!

Dominic Smith won the Longest Drive with a drive exceeding 280 yards

on hole 9. Dominic also won the Nearest the Pin on hole 17.!

Steve Austin won the Nearest the Pin on hole 6. !

Congratulations to all those who collected their respective awards.!

Finally I would like to thank Kirkby Valley Golf Club for their hospitality

Liverpool Comes Together for a Night of Peace and Love

A Night of Peace and Love at the Tung Auditorium

Last night's "Give Peace a Chance" concert at the Tung Auditorium, also known as the Yoko Ono Lennon Theatre, was a truly special event, and I'm still feeling the love and joy that filled the room. This concert was inspired by the Peace Wall at the Liverpool Beatles Museum, and it's a testament to how the message of peace, which John Lennon and Yoko Ono championed, continues to resonate through music and art.

We had a full house, and I was just blown away by the sheer star quality of all fifteen acts. It was an unbelievable evening, and I couldn't be more grateful. We had some incredible talent on stage, including the legendary Billy J. Kramer who topped the bill, the soulful Joe Speare , the amazing Sophie Clarke , and the phenomenal Arabella Dance Academy . The whole show was seamlessly hosted by the wonderful Debi Jones .

I want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to every single person who made this event a reality. To all the performers who shared their incredible talent, to our audience who filled the theatre with such warmth, and to the tireless Liverpool Heartbeat volunteers. A special thank you also goes to Nicky Broadley for organizing the entire show.

As I look back on the night, all I can really say is, "Give Peace a Chance."

“‘This Is Mine?’—One Comic Book, One Child, One Unforgettable Moment”

The comic books donated by @liverpoolheartbeat that truly stole the show.

This school, tucked away in a rural corner of Tanzania, had never before had access to English-written books. For many of these children, the written word in English was a distant concept, something they’d heard of but rarely seen. To hold vibrant, beautifully illustrated comic books in their hands was nothing short of a revelation.

The boys, in particular, were utterly captivated. They lit up with uncontainable excitement when they saw the superhero stories—tales of bravery, adventure, and triumph that resonated deeply with their own spirited imaginations. I watched as their eyes widened, tracing the colourful panels of heroes soaring through the pages, their fingers gently turning each page as if it were a treasure.

For these children, who face daily challenges with courage and resilience, those superheroes weren’t just characters—they were symbols of hope, strength, and possibility. The comic books didn’t just teach them English words; they opened a window to a world where anything is possible, where their dreams could take flight.

I’ll never forget the moment one boy clutched his comic book to his chest, grinning ear to ear, and said, “This is mine? To keep?” The disbelief and joy in his voice broke my heart and rebuilt it all at once.

These comic books, a gift from @liverpoolheartbeat, have done more than support literacy—they’ve ignited a passion for storytelling and imagination. The head teacher shared that the school plans to incorporate the comics into their reading lessons, using them to build confidence in English while keeping the children engaged. For a school that had no English books before, this is a monumental step forward. The children’s gratitude was overwhelming; they understood the value of this gift, not just as entertainment but as a key to unlocking new opportunities through education. Their appreciation for learning, despite limited resources, humbled me deeply and reminded me of the power of small acts to create lasting change.

This trip has left an indelible mark on my heart. Standing in that classroom, watching those children dive into their comic books, I felt a profound connection to their dreams and a renewed commitment to supporting their journey. The incredible head teacher has promised to keep me updated on the school’s progress, and I’m already counting the days until I can return to see how these young heroes are growing. To @liverpoolheartbeat, your gift of comic books has brought a piece of Liverpool’s heart to Tanzania, bridging cultures and inspiring a love for learning that will ripple through these children’s lives for years to come. The Liverpool Heartbeat and Tri for Life Across the Mersey Swim took place today Saturday 30th August.

It's not a race, Its a powerful statement of community and compassion.

Today, against a backdrop of unforgiving weather, 200 heroes defied the odds, demonstrating that even in the face of adversity, the human heart can generate incredible warmth and make waves of positive change for those in need. Each stroke today was a step towards a better future, proving that even a metre-high wave is no match for a heart full of hope.

So many were swimming for different Charities. Well done to all the heroic swimmers who conquered the great water of the Mersey.and Well done to all the volunteers On the boats and on the slip way

A Bank Holiday to Remember

On August Bank Holday Monday, I had the pleasure of joining Nicola Broadley along with Abby Warner and Amy McKeown – two brilliant teachers from Arabella Dance Academy (Widnes) for a heartfelt conversation with Billy Hull on BBC Radio Merseyside.

We covered so much ground—each project a testament to the passion and purpose that drives Liverpool Heartbeat:

�� The Peace Wall – now open to the public at The Beatles Museum on Mathew Street. A permanent symbol of unity and hope.

�� Across the Mersey Swim – happening 30th August. A challenge of courage and community.

⛳ Liverpool Heartbeat Golf Day – teeing off 10th September. A day of sport and support.

�� Give Peace a Chance – The Beatles Concert – 7th September at the Yoko Ono Lennon Theatre. A sold-out celebration, lovingly organised by our incredible volunteer Nicola Broadley, whose talents span West End stages and global performances.

�� World Premiere of the John Hulley Film – launching 6th November. A story of legacy, vision, and inspiration.

Through these initiatives and many more, Liverpool Heartbeat continues to nurture creativity, resilience, and ambition in young people—ensuring our message echoes across generations.

From open-heart surgery to countless hospital stays, Jaxon faced battles most children never have to fight. Yet through every challenge, he radiated a light so powerful, it sparked something extraordinary.

✨ Founded in February 2024, Lumiere was born from a family’s love and a dream that refused to be dimmed: to create a space where every child—regardless of ability—can laugh, play, and truly belong. A place where parents feel seen, not isolated. Where families come together without judgement. Where difference isn’t just accepted—it’s celebrated.

In just a few months, Lumiere has grown from a dream into a lifeline for hundreds of families. From Liverpool to Tanzania: Darcy's Mission to Empower Girls

Hi, I’m Darcy, and I’m 18 years old. I believe in the power of young girls to shape the future—and I’m determined to help them see it too.

That’s why I founded Teen Soul Sisters , a free self-development group that brings together girls from all backgrounds to explore confidence, resilience, and personal growth. We laugh, learn, and lift each other up. And now, that mission is taking me 4,000 miles from home.

I’m beyond excited (and yes, a little nervous!) to be volunteering in Tanzania—a place rich in culture, community, and opportunity. I’ll be working directly with girls to support their education and encourage their dreams, continuing the work I started in Liverpool.

It’s a big adventure, but I’m not doing it alone.

I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me—including the amazing team at Liverpool Heartbeat. They generously donated comic books for the children, letting them carry a little piece of Liverpool’s spirit in their hands. It means the world to me, and I know it’ll mean even more to the kids who receive them.

When charity meets courage, extraordinary things happen

Rob withBoxing Judge Derik Harvey, who previously Boxed for England when he was younger; alongside two brothers who come from Soma GYM, Bali, Indonesia.

Few events exemplify this better than the recent Cheshire Freemasons Charity Boxing Event , a historic gathering that packed more than just punches. Leading the charge was Michael Ross , whose tireless dedication as one of the main promoters helped turn the occasion into a triumph of community, compassion, and resilience.

The event united generations and backgrounds in support of three remarkable causes :

�� Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) – Bringing comfort to children in distress, TLC delivers cuddly teddies to A&E departments to help ease young patients' fears.
��️ Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) – Supporting wider society and Masonic families alike through medical, financial, and community-based assistance.
�� Centurion ABC CIC – Empowering young lives through amateur boxing, mentoring, and youth engagement programmes that build confidence and character.

With every bout fought in the ring, awareness and funds were raised outside it—paving the way for meaningful impact and ongoing support across Cheshire and beyond. The roaring cheers of the crowd weren’t just for knockouts—they were for knock-on effects: comfort for a child, hope for a family, opportunity for a future champion.

Michael’s leadership, backed by the powerful ethos of Freemasonry and the grit of grassroots sport, helped shape a night where generosity punched far above its weight.

At Liverpool Heartbeat, we believe in the power of community and passion to transform our city. That's why we're incredibly proud to announce our sponsorship of a fantastic new piece of art as part of this unique and exciting community art project spearheaded by local artist, Ian, aimed at revitalising the iconic Penny Lane!

Ian, a true Liverpudlian, noticed something many of us have – tourists arriving at Penny Lane, only to be met with a sense of "is this it?" Despite its global fame thanks to The Beatles, the area has lacked the investment it deserves. But instead of just complaining, Ian decided to take action, inspired by the selfless efforts of other locals.

His ambitious vision? A FREE art trail along Penny Lane! Imagine four life-size Beatles plaques , connected by a vibrant tapestry of colourful shopfronts and iconic murals. This isn't just about art; it's about boosting the local economy, honouring The Beatles' enduring legacy, and making Penny Lane a brighter, more engaging place for residents and visitors alike.

Ian's even designed a brilliant visitor map and flyer, highlighting key landmarks, the new artwork, and local businesses like cafes, shops, and restaurants.

The goal is simple: encourage tourists to truly experience the area, not just pass through.

Since starting this journey, Ian has been overwhelmed by the incredible support from the Penny Lane community. Now, with the groundwork laid, it's time to make this dream a reality – and that's where you come in!

Hi Robin, just to confirm receipt of the £2500 that Liverpool Heartbeat provided to Liverpool Basketball at the beginning of this year, 2025.

The money allowed us to provide a performance camp for all our players here at Liverpool Basketball, allowing us to bring in highly qualified, talented and experienced coaches from around the region to provide enhanced training to all our national league players.

Breaking Isolation: How "Stand Together" is Empowering Young Men in Liverpool

On Thursday 29th May Manifestive CIC presented “Stand Together: Finding Voice & Values for Young Males” , a gathering focused on empowering young men to discover their voice and values. It was ran at the First Person Project C.I.C hub and was an interactive event filled with discussions, workshops, and group coaching.

Liverpool Heartbeat kindly sponsored a young care-leaver to attend this one-off workshop that had been designed to support young males aged 16–25 from underserved communities. It aims were to tackle multiple challenges commonly faced by this demographic, beginning with isolation. The workshop offered a chance for young people to connect with peers who share similar lived experiences, enabling community cohesion, friendship, and mutual support.

A key creative element of the workshop involved crafting a personal values-driven document. This reflected each individual’s core beliefs, life truths, and helpful tools they can integrate into their daily routines for ongoing personal development.

Additionally, space was created for action learning group coaching. Although Manifestive has significant experience, we do not presume to know what young people are thinking, feeling, or experiencing. Therefore we created a safe, autonomous environment where participants were free to speak openly, share challenges, and support one another in a mutual learning space.

Finally, we had an fantastic inspirational speaker in Sean O'Neill. Sean is a serial entrepreneur who has navigated real ups and downs both personally and in a business sense. He also provided copies of his new book to motivate starting and succeeding in business, whilst opening space for rich discussions exploring the young men's lived experiences. Closing off with a Q&A.

This workshop was developed as a direct, meaningful response to the misrepresentations seen in public narratives—particularly in reaction to media such as the recent drama series 'Adolescence'. We believe that demonising young males and fuelling fear through misinformed narratives does more harm than good. Manifestive CIC has instead chosen to act, using our knowledge, experience, and empathy to create positive change through real engagement and dialogue.

Hannah and Harry are preparing to row the Atlantic Ocean! Their epic 3,000-mile adventure will kick off on December 10th, taking them from La Gomera to Antigua. They expect the journey to last between 40 and 60 days, all to raise money for a children's cancer charity.

I'll be heading to Burnham on Crouch in Essex from May 30th to June 1st for the official launch of Gill. I'll be there representing Liverpool Heartbeat, who have generously sponsored all the nutrition for Hannah and Harry's journey.

Beyond the launch, I'm also planning to be in La Gomera to wave them off as they begin their monumental row. And, with a bit of luck, I hope to be in Antigua to welcome them home after their incredible feat.

It's inspiring to see that all the funding for this challenging journey has come directly from Liverpool people through the tireless work of Bernie Hollywood, highlighting the incredible support for Hannah Rowan and Harry's mission.

The Panthers roared back to life today in a compelling encounter against Soccer Blue, securing a hard-fought victory.

While the initial stages saw them struggle to find their rhythm, the team's resilience shone through as they gradually carved out more opportunities. Their persistence paid off with a flurry of well-taken goals in what proved to be a tightly contested match.

The standout performances of the day culminated in a deserved shared Player of the Match award. Emily, stepping in as goalkeeper, delivered an exceptional performance, demonstrating composure and agility to thwart Soccer Blue's advances.

Meanwhile, Logan, wearing the captain's armband, embodied leadership throughout the match. He spearheaded the attack with a dynamic brace and his relentless effort in every challenge set a high standard for the team.

The shared POTM recognition was a fitting acknowledgment of their significant contributions to the Panthers' impressive performance.

On Saturday 5th April, the lights of the prestigious Liverpool Empire Theatre illuminated not just a stage — but the stories, hopes and dreams of people from across the Liverpool City Region.

See You See Me was more than a show. It was a movement. A two-and-a-half-hour stage spectacular created and directed by acclaimed creative director Miguel Doforo and MD Productions — but most importantly, it was shaped by the voices, hearts, and experiences of the very people who access the See You See Me project every day.

This wasn’t just a performance. It was a love letter to community, collaboration, and creativity — showcasing the extraordinary things that happen when people from all walks of life come together in a safe, supportive, and empowering space.

A Vision for Change

The See You See Me project has been working across Liverpool City Region throughout 2024 and 2025 — delivering workshops, sessions, creative experiences, and well-being support in communities often underrepresented or underserved.

From Liverpool city centre to Toxteth, Netherley, Knowsley, Huyton, Kirkby, The Wirral, St Helens, and Newton — people of all ages and backgrounds have come together not only to learn performance skills but to learn about themselves and each other.

Groups involved included MD Productions, Firefit, Go Active, The Black-E, New Horizons, The Woodlands Community Centre, Tom Stalker’s Gym, KCC Live, Belle Vale Primary, Saint Aidan’s Primary, All Saints High School Kirkby, Elektric Apple Theatre Group, I am me collective, The Hive and of course the driving force and funder behind the night — Liverpool Heartbeat.

The entire event was made possible — and completely free — thanks to the generosity and vision of Robin Baynes OBE and Liverpool Heartbeat . A charity rooted in the values of kindness, opportunity, and helping young people thrive, Liverpool Heartbeat believes that every young person deserves access to creative, life-changing experiences — regardless of background or circumstance.

Robin’s belief in the power of community and young people has been unwavering. A Blank Canvas to a Masterpiece

Audiences were taken on an extraordinary journey — from a blank canvas to a digitally created masterpiece representing every single person involved. Dancers, singers, actors, musicians, inspirational speakers, artists, costume designers, hair and makeup teams, lighting and sound engineers, and visual content creators all came together — creating a vibrant and emotional celebration of humanity.

But this wasn’t just Miguel’s vision — his role was clear: to facilitate, guide, and hold space. It was the people of See You See Me — the young people, the parents, the teachers, the partners — who shaped what audiences witnessed.

More Than a Stage

The arts have a unique ability to break down barriers — creating dialogue, promoting understanding of different cultures, and improving well-being. Projects like See You See Me demonstrate why creativity must remain at the heart of education, community development, and health strategies.

Beyond the stage, See You See Me also provides a vital wrap-around support service called I Care — offering mentoring, coaching, and well-being support to participants. The project doesn’t just develop performers — it nurtures confidence, self-belief, and life skills, while also providing pathways into employment within the creative industries.

As the creative sector continues to grow nationally and internationally, projects like this provide critical skills for future careers — from production and media to content creation, marketing, and leadership.

Looking Ahead

Such was the success of the night, Robin Baynes has already given Miguel and the See You See Me team the green light to bring the project back in 2026 — a powerful endorsement of its impact and value.

The work for 2025/26 begins now — and the invitation is open for more partners, supporters, funders, and collaborators to join the journey.

As Miguel reflected:

“It’s not just about what happens on the stage. It’s about what happens off stage — in people’s hearts, in their communities, and in their futures.”

LiverPaw Legends Takes Root in South Liverpool School

A wave of environmental enthusiasm swept through a South Liverpool primary school today, March 6th, as Liverpool Heartbeat and Reboot Earth launched their groundbreaking "LiverPaw Legends" program for Year One and Two pupils.

The innovative initiative aims to instill a love for nature and foster sustainable practices in young minds. Leading the charge were Nicky Broadly, a dedicated volunteer from Liverpool Heartbeat, and Omer Motiwala, the passionate owner of Reboot Earth.

The school hall was transformed into a hub of activity as the children, divided into four eager teams, delved into engaging lessons on the environment and sustainability. Nicky and Omer captivated the youngsters with interactive sessions, sparking their curiosity about the natural world.

"The children were absolutely brilliant," said Nicky. "They were so enthusiastic and absorbed all the messages about looking after our planet. It's wonderful to see such young minds so engaged."

Omer echoed her sentiments, adding, "It's crucial to start educating children about sustainability from a young age. We want to empower them to become the future guardians of our environment."

The session culminated in a practical task, with each child tasked with bringing in a leaf for their next lesson, further connecting them with the natural world. This hands-on approach is a core element of the LiverPaw Legends program, designed to make learning about sustainability both fun and impactful.

The launch marks the beginning of a series of lessons that will see the children explore various aspects of nature and sustainability, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on their environment. Liverpool Heartbeat and Reboot Earth hope that LiverPaw Legends will inspire a generation of environmentally conscious citizens.

Sophie Clarke is a Mezzo-Soprano and Presenter from Liverpool, UK. Praised for her “beautiful story telling” and “touching performances.”

This is a Must See Art Exhibition on permanent display. We believe this is the only Pearce Wall displaying The Children’s Voice Saying Prepare For Peace.

The Prepare for Peace Poster Competition has officially closed, and we are overwhelmed by the incredible response! Schools from across the globe answered the call, sending in a remarkable array of artwork that reflects the hopes, dreams, and vision of a peaceful future from children everywhere.

We received an astonishing number of submissions, each poster a testament to the creativity, talent, and thoughtfulness of young minds. From vibrant illustrations of harmony among nations to heartfelt messages of unity, the artworks have touched our hearts and reignited our belief in a brighter, more peaceful future.

What’s Next?

We are thrilled to announce that these incredible Peace Posters will soon be proudly displayed at the Liverpool Beatles Museum. The artwork will take centre stage, showcasing the global vision for peace as seen through the eyes of children. This exhibition will serve as a reminder of the enduring power of creativity and hope to inspire change.

John Hulley Celebrates Christmas at Coburg Wharf

This Christmas season, the iconic John Hulley statue —a tribute to Liverpool’s rich heritage—spread festive cheer as it donned a Santa Claus outfit. Set against the stunning backdrop of a Liverpool sunset, "Santa Hulley" became a beacon of joy and community spirit, attracting smiles and admiration from all who passed by.

The John Hulley statue , gifted to Liverpool in 2019 by Robin and Brenda Baynes , honours the legacy of a local hero. Known as the father of British gymnastics and a pioneer of the modern Olympic movement, John Hulley’s contributions continue to inspire.

Sustainability Meets Heritage

In 2024, Liverpool Heartbeat enhanced the statue’s surroundings with planters in the Olympic colour scheme , crafted sustainably from repurposed wooden barrels. This initiative reflects LHB’s commitment to blending heritage preservation with environmental stewardship, demonstrating that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand.

The planters were introduced during a special event, which also marked the announcement of the Across Mersey Swim 2024 . They now stand as a vibrant addition to the John Hulley statue, serving as a reminder of his enduring legacy and Liverpool Heartbeat’s dedication to nurturing health, fitness, and community values.

Northern Peace Ride

Liverpool Heartbeat’s Northern Peace Ride: A Journey for Peace and Charity

On Friday, 18th, and Saturday, 19th October, three dedicated volunteers from Liverpool Heartbeat embarked on a challenging 127-mile sponsored bike ride from Liverpool Town Hall to Leeds. Dubbed The Northern Peace Ride, the event was aimed at raising funds for Liverpool Heartbeat and spreading a powerful message of peace from the city of Liverpool.

The Journey Begins
The ride was set in motion by Phil Davies, a talented videographer and vital volunteer for Liverpool Heartbeat, who coordinated with Leeds Town Hall and the Chair of Leeds Peace Poetry, Rehana Minhas. Rehana shared three winning poems from Leeds’ Peace Poetry competition (focused on the theme of “Fire”), which the riders read and recorded during their journey.

At 8:30 am on a sunny Friday morning, Phil joined fellow riders Ossie Omar, a dedicated fundraiser, and Garth Dallas, Chair of the Liverpool Commonwealth Association, at Liverpool Town Hall. Encouraged by supportive words from Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Richard Kemp, the trio began their adventure along the Liverpool-Leeds Canal.

Robin Baynes MBE, founder of Liverpool Heartbeat, accompanied the team by car, offering moral support and meeting them at various points along the route.

Challenges Along the Way
The journey was not without its hurdles. Phil Davies was forced to retire early due to a previous leg injury, returning to Liverpool via Wigan. Meanwhile, Ossie and Garth faced multiple setbacks, including three punctures on Garth’s bike and a treacherous, waterlogged canal path near Skipton. Despite these challenges, the pair pressed on, cycling into the night and arriving at their Burnley stopover much later than planned.

The Final Stretch
Saturday morning brought clear skies and renewed determination. Following a hearty breakfast and a quick bike repair, Ossie and Garth resumed their journey to Leeds. Robin went ahead to meet Rehana Minhas at the Leeds Craft Centre, where he shared Liverpool Heartbeat’s peace message and toured the city’s iconic landmarks.

Ossie and Garth completed the ride just in time to catch their train back to Liverpool, carrying with them the pride of spreading the message of peace and raising vital funds for Liverpool Heartbeat.

Reflecting on the ride, Robin shared:
"We currently live in turbulent times, but amidst all the chaos, we feel passionately that peace should always be a continued theme. Children should remain a priority, inspired, encouraged, and allowed to live the life they desire in peace. Prepare for Peace: A Global Call to Action

Inspired by the iconic peace mission of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the 1960s, Liverpool Beatles Museum and Liverpool Heartbeat are teaming up to revive their vision of spreading peace across the globe. Back then, John and Yoko encouraged world leaders to plant "acorns for peace," sparking months of positive stories and inspiring millions.

The Acorn Seed Story is a lesser-known yet profoundly symbolic act in the history of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s peace efforts. During their famous Bed-In for Peace in 1969, the couple proclaimed their desire for global harmony through creative and thought-provoking gestures. As part of this initiative, they sent acorns—symbols of potential growth and peace—to world leaders, encouraging them to plant the seeds and nurture them as representations of a peaceful future.

This unique act of sending acorns to heads of state, including Queen Elizabeth II, President Richard Nixon, and others, emphasized their commitment to peace. While the idea was simple, its impact resonated deeply, sparking media attention and encouraging conversations around peace rather than conflict. John and Yoko believed that even the smallest actions, such as planting a seed, could create ripples of positive change around the world.

Now, in a world still plagued by conflict, Prepare for Peace calls on the next generation—our children—to become ambassadors of hope and harmony. We are inviting schools from every corner of the globe to design Peace Posters that reflect their vision for a peaceful world.

These posters will be proudly displayed at the Liverpool Beatles Museum and published in a book by Liverpool Heartbeat, which will then be sent to every world leader as a message of unity and peace.

On Saturday, August 10th, 2024, under the warm sun and calm seas, Liverpool Heartbeat proudly celebrated the 31st anniversary of the Across Mersey Swim, an iconic event that saw 173 brave participants swim from Cockle Inlet in Liverpool to Monks Ferry slipway in Birkenhead. Large crowds gathered to cheer them on as they emerged from the River Mersey, marking the culmination of an extraordinary journey.

This historic swim, first recorded as part of the Liverpool Olympic Festival in 1863, was reintroduced in 1994 by Robin Baynes MBE, Jimmy Tinsley, and Bob Jones, following a successful English Channel Relay Swim that raised £35,000 for The Royal Liverpool University Hospital’s Forget Me Not Cancer Appeal, in memory of Robin's sister-in-law, Barbara Marshall. Since then, the event has grown in significance, welcoming swimmers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to participate in support of numerous charities.

The 2024 swim was a testament to the power of community, with safety teams, volunteers, and sponsors all coming together to make the event a great success. Swimmers were waved off by the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mr. Mark Blundell, and Miss Liverpool, Charlotte Grant, as they crossed the Mersey in teams, or PODs, for safety, guided by Kayakers led by Colin and supported by fifteen volunteer RIB safety boats from local clubs. Special thanks go to New Brighton Lifeboat, the RNLI, and Marine Fire1 for their constant support throughout the swim.

The event concluded with the swimmers being warmly welcomed ashore by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Cherry Povall, who praised the participants for their courage, dedication, and the immense charitable contributions made through their efforts. This year, the swim supported a wide range of charities, including Liverpool Heartbeat, Split Perspectivz, Sam Jalloh Motivate Africa, Stick n’ Step, Special Boat Service Association, Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club, Maggie’s Cancer Support, The HIVE Birkenhead, The Paul Lavelle Foundation, tri-4-life, and the respective Lord Mayor Charities.

Among the many standout participants were Barbara Rigby, the oldest female swimmer, and 86-year-old Joe Kerrigan, the oldest male swimmer. The youngest swimmer, ten-year-old Florence Millward, completed the swim alongside her father, Tom, becoming a true inspiration to all.

The event culminated in a medal ceremony led by Liam Hanlon, event organiser and “King of the Mersey,” who was joined by the Lord-Lieutenant, the Mayor, and the various POD Captains. Special recognition was given to Chris Shawfrom Wallasey REDCAPS, whose selfless dedication to helping others conquer the Mighty River Mersey earned him a standing ovation.

A huge thank you to all the participants, safety teams, and sponsors, especially Glen Affric Brewery, who provided their signature beer “Bevie Across the Mersey” to all swimmers and support crews. Your efforts have helped raise substantial funds for countless charities, ensuring that this event remains a lasting legacy of community spirit and generosity.

We look forward to welcoming even more participants to next year’s Across Mersey Swim, where we’ll continue to celebrate courage, resilience, and the power of giving back to those in need.

A Formal Thank You from Liverpool Heartbeat

On behalf of Liverpool Heartbeat and Robin Baynes MBE, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Kirkby Valley Golf Club for hosting this year’s John Hulley Cup. The course was in exceptional condition, and the hospitality provided by the staff made for a seamless and enjoyable event.

LHB Partners with Puzzle Duck

Liverpool Heartbeat have partnered with PuzzleDuck to create a series of Digital Treasure Hunt experiences around a number of cities in the UK. These hunts are powered by an innovative app that helps users to navigate themselves to various secret locations, at which a variety of fun and educational tasks must be attempted.

These tasks include having to find a clue, such as a date on a statue, or a name on a plaque; take a creative photo of users at a specific location; solve a logic puzzle [verbal and non-verbal reasoning, maths] and answer trivia questions either related to the location or of a more general knowledge type.

By their very nature, the hunts are outdoors [although they can be built to include museums/art galleries etc] and they are very active. On average, users walk 3 miles whilst participating in them. The hunts are also inclusive in terms of offering equal access to boys and girls, and also are as wheelchair friendly as we can make them.

The hunts also encourage the development of essential soft skills such as communication, resilience, empathy, problem solving, creativity and curiosity.

We believe that these hunts offer a unique alternative to the usual activities that primary schools allocate their PE and Sports Premium to and will not only make a measurable impact on the physical activity of pupils, but will also deliver cultural and heritage education, in small doses, to enable pupils to better appreciate their environment.

The hunts can be built to focus and specific topics. For example, a hunt around Roman Chester could deliver physical activity and at the same time achieve some learning objectives from the curriculum.

Hunts generally last between 90 – 120 mins and allow pupils to play as individuals, teams or one large group. Prices start from £10 per pupil with a suggested maximum of 60 per hunt.

Thank you note from Teen Soul Sisters

Teen Souls was created in 2023 by Darcy Melia and has been running for 11 months.
The group provides a safe space for young girls to come together. It keeps them off
the streets and away from crime. These girls are the girls who have experienced
self-harm, eating disorders, being overlooked, sexual exploitation, suicidal ideation,
domestic violence, and living in dysfunctional homes. This group offers a safe and
confidential place for them to go and express their emotions and feelings. It gives
them a positive outlook on life. We also have guest speakers come in and inspire
them with different life choices, whether this be going in the army or talking about
healthy relationships, boundaries, grooming or drugs. MP George Howarth strongly
supports this programme and keeps in touch often.

A self-development workshop

Teen Soul Sisters offers a variety of self-love workshops. These include creating
vision boards, celebrating Galentines, talking about new trends and their safety (e.g.
vaping), ice baths, shared circle, yoga, talks from guest speakers and affirmations.

Empowering a community for young girls

The girls in this area have experienced things a young person should never see.
These are the girls who act as a mother to their siblings. Who are basically children
yet have been sexually abused. These are girls who are 14 yet have tried to take
their own life. These are the girls that hate their own body so much they starve and
harm it, instead of loving it. These girls are the daughter of the mother who has just
nearly been beaten to death. The daughter of the father who is an alcoholic…But
where is their escape?"

A Safe Space for Young Girls

Creating an empowering and safe space for young girls happens by them coming
together, which is why Teen Soul Sisters aims to not feel like a restraining
educational workshop. We pride ourselves on being a safe space. A place of
honesty, purity, privacy, creativity and opportunity. The group is a chilled, relaxed
space for the girls to enjoy. A place for them to leave all their pressures at the door.

It was a ‘MARVEL’ous day at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital when Tim Quinn and Robin Baynes kindly donated personalised Marvel comic books for our patients.

It was great to see so many patients enjoying the visit and also receiving the free personalised comic book. Tim and Robin helped to judge the patients super hero competition that they initiated and gave out free Marvel books to the winners. It was great to see the creativity of many patients and to see them having fun taking part in hospital.

The event was supported by Heroic Alliance who also offered their time for free to entertain the patients as Batman, Wolverine and Thor ( Super hero characters) during this event.

Many patients, parents and staff enjoyed the visit which helped to create a fun environment and great patient experience.

The John Hulley Olympics 2012

This event was 2012 it was held at Crosby sea front as a part of Liverpool heartbeat fund raising event. The joy of the event was that it was accessible to all ages, genders and ability’s. It was a real family event that encouraged and was inclusive of the communities involved.

I remember vividly blind football taking place, children with disabilities took part and were award prizes on the day.
I myself took part and was unfit, fat and completely out of condition ��

This epitomised the ethos of Liverpool heartbeat

Liverpool Heartbeat nominated Colin Southern for The Big Small Business Award. Colin, who runs the Bike Works in Skelmersdale was nominated for his work in 2014 preparing 200 for The Spitfire Project in Lesotho.

Liverpool Heartbeat was delighted to be part of the recent COMIC BOOK DAY held at Waterloo’s Plaza Community Cinema. The day was masterminded by former Marvel Editor Tim Quinn who has created Liverpool Heartbeat’s line of comic books.

The sparkling guest list at the event included cartoonists Lew Stringer and Nigel Parkinson from the Beano and Dandy, Charlie Adlard, illustrator of The Walking Dead, Leigh Gallagher from 2000AD and DC Comics, Jason Quinn, writer on Batman, Dicky Howett, cartoonist on Doctor Who, Nika Nartova, Beano colourist, Alan Cowsill, Marvel Comics editor and writer, Shane Chebsey, publisher on Dracula, Roag Aspinall Best from the Liverpool Beatles Museum and Colin Hanson drummer from John Lennon’s band, the Quarrymen. Liverpool Live Radio 24/7’s Roy Basnett and broadcasting legend Billy Butler teamed up to interview the Brothers Quinn.

The day long event was attended by crowds from far and wide and Liverpool Heartbeat’s comic books were snatched up by all. Here’s to the next one!

Liverpool Heartbeat is delighted to have secured £5k from the PH HOLT foundation to run a Merseyside Primary School Creative project, which will see local children showing us their artistic visions of what hope looks like to them.

All entries will be published inside the Book of Hope , supporting the local child mental health campaign, Boat of Hope.

The artwork will be collated and displayed in an historical venue . (details to be announced soon).

We aim to get children and families together, celebrating the unique potential within every child.

There will also be a series of workshops, drama presentations, music performances and storytelling trails to celebrate this monumental project.

We are delighted to have local CIC Split Perspectivz onboard to help us make this project truly spectacular.

Sam, you had the children totally hooked!

Dear Robin and Sam,

I want to thank you very much for visiting Hatton Hill today. You were both such excellent role models for the children, both in terms of your stories and in the clear warmth of your relationship.

Children, particularly boys, don't always see those positive relationships between adults.

Also, your commitment to charity work shone through and I will use it as a platform to talk about service/volunteering in the new year.

Sam, you had the children totally hooked.

They were literally hanging on your every word. Your story is very powerful in it's own right, but your way of telling it is particularly striking. Your positive nature came through in everything you said - I was fascinated by your 'magical house' and we all love your success menu! I visited the classrooms after you had gone and both staff and children were really positive about what they had heard and learned. The Year 6 children were particularly keen to discuss things further so the teachers are going to read them your autobiography.

In the space of an hour you have taught the children more than I could have in weeks.

You have emphasised in a gentle way how very lucky and privileged they are and I think there was a sudden realisation of this, which won't quickly be forgotten. I always talk to my staff about how part of teaching is your legacy; I am sure that you and your family are very proud of yours.

Thank you for taking the time in your busy schedule to visit us. Robin and Sam - can we have a Sam comic please?

I would certainly be happy to recommend you to other schools and if you would like to talk to headteachers about what you offer, I can organise this.

The North West Triathlon Academy are delighted to receive financial support again from Liverpool Heart Beat.

This will be the 8 ^th year Liverpool Heart Beat have supported the regional academy, helping to provide kit and support towards the training needs of the best junior and youth triathletes in the North West.

The Academy is one of ten regional academies in England and is the first step on the performance pathway for British Triathlon. 14 athletes have been selected onto the academy aged 14-18 years old and all will be focusing on competing in the National elite triathlon series in 2023, the British Triathlon Super Series. The series comprises of 6 races across the country with the British Champion crowned at the end.

Athletes in the North West come from a range of backgrounds including swimming, athletics and tristar level triathlon.

They are selected into the academy annually, following a series of trials, and will receive access to training days, camps, kit and coaching support through the regional academy.

With huge thanks to Liverpool Heart Beat for their continued support, of which some of these opportunities would not be possible without.

QUEEN GIVEN THE MARVEL COMICS TREATMENT!

Former Marvel Comics editor and writer Tim Quinn has created a unique Platinum Jubilee souvenir with a brand new comic book telling the life story of Queen Elizabeth II.

Quinn has used his colleagues from the publishing giant to illustrate the book. "As I researched the Queen's life story, I was struck by how visual the tale was," says Quinn. "It proved to be a perfect story to approach in exactly the same way we produced the super-hero titles at Marvel Comics." The book captures the Queen's story from childhood to the present day. It has been put together to raise funds for the Merseyside children's charity Liverpool Heartbeat who create literacy projects for schools across the region.

"There's nothing quite like the Marvel method of storytelling to capture the imagination of even the most ardent non-reader," says Quinn. "The combination of the Marvel approach and the Queen's amazing story has proved to be a visual treat." The book was presented to the Queen at Windsor Castle and received a very positive response which is featured in this new printing.

The book has been taken up by the global company New Haven Publishing to be part of their Phoenix Press children’s division with funds coming to Liverpool Heartbeat for future projects.

It will come as no surprise to readers that there are many unsung heroes who selflessly contribute a great deal of their time for the benefit of Liverpool and its people. One such person is Robin Baynes, who was rewarded for his constant and selfless charity work with the award of the MBE, which he received from Her Majesty the Queen on 3rd November 2010.

Robin, assisted by his wife Brenda and his family, has helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds over many many years of fundraising for a wide variety of charities, while his founding of the New Start and Liverpool Heartbeat businesses have helped many of the more vulnerable people, children and adults in our region and beyond, to be able to lead a more rewarding life.

Now aged 76, Robin still continues with his efforts to help others less fortunate in life

Volunteers at Liverpool Heartbeat begin the jubilee weekend with something very special to celebrate as they receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Servicea

Liverpool Heartbeat is one of the city’s best loved charities.

For the past 20 years it has been run by founder Robin Baynes MBE, supported by his with Brenda and family, and a dedicated team of volunteers who have organised a wide range of events and projects to promote healthy lifestyles for young people in the region as well as assisting other charities and organisations with their events.

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is an annual award given for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers. It is the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK.

When asked what winning the award meant to him and the Liverpool Heartbeat volunteers, Robin Baynes said: “It means everything. It means the fulfillment of 20 years’ work. It’s wonderful for the volunteers to be recognised for their commitment.”

Robin founded the charity in memory of his lifelong friend, Kenny O’Toole, a fellow Liverpool School Swimming Champion. In 2002, Liverpool Heartbeat’s first fundraising event in memory of Ken took place. It was a sponsored relay swim from Scotland to Ireland by his swimming friends and Liverpool Heartbeat was born.

And 20 years later, Robin wants to honour the memory of another friend, Rob Harrison, who died of covid in 2020. Robin first met Rob when he became a resident with New Start Social Housing Organisation, which was founded by Robin and his family to support people with little or no choice of accommodation.

Rob remained a resident at New Start for almost 20 years and became one of Liverpool Heartbeat’s most dedicated and passionate volunteers, always going above and beyond to support the charity’s fundraising activities.

Robin said: “Rob had been with me from day one and he was such a big part of Liverpool Heartbeat. He would’ve been so excited about this. He would’ve been organising the party for everyone!”

Liverpool Heartbeat’s team of volunteers also includes Liam Hanlon, who has just summited Mount Everest with four Tri-4-Life team members. Liam and the Tri-4-Life team and the volunteers at Liverpool Heartbeat have supported each other’s projects since 2002.

Other volunteers who’ve brought their unique talents to Liverpool Heartbeat are Nicola Broadley, a singer and actress and principal of Ovation Performers, and Sam Jalloh. Born in Sierra Leone and now living in Southport, Sam is an international tennis coach and a well-respected physical, nutritional, mental health coach and motivational speaker.

Phil Davies, a first-class film and video technician always helps the charity with the filming of their projects. Liz McGovern, a talented development manager, manages projects for the charity. Tim Quinn, who worked for Marvel Comics in the States for 20 years, and was Marvel’s Head of Special Projects, has been working on some exciting creative projects for Liverpool Heartbeat. They are joined by June Ritson (Treasurer for 20 years) and Chris Entwistle (video game creator). Ossie Oman, Fundraiser and Events Coordinator.

Natalie Reeves Billing, who is a well-loved children’s author and a supporter of the charity, said: “Robin and his team are currently creating a musical extravaganza celebrating the life of an unsung local hero, John Hulley, who was arguably the founder of the modern Olympics. With interactive apps and more comic books, and a video game in the offing, we will definitely be seeing more of Liverpool Heartbeat and its impact across the city.”

Echoing this sentiment, Robin said: “I’d like to say a big well done to all our volunteers and also to our trustees. I’m absolutely delighted for you. Here’s to another 20 years!”

Liverpool is a city with a big heart, but none quite as big as that of local man, Robin Baynes MBE.

Robin is the founder of Liverpool Heartbeat, a charity committed to inspiring and supporting young people to live healthy lives. Robin founded the charity in memory of his lifelong friend, Kenny O’Toole, a fellow Liverpool School Swimming Champion.

In his name, Robin and friends created the first Heartbeat event, a sponsored swim from Scotland to Ireland for the British Heart Foundation.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Mt Everest Challenge

Liam Hanlon, Phil Walton, Martin Pritchard Howath and Steve Hayes all members of the Tri-4-Live Team led by Liam, are flying to Katmandu on 31st March 2022, changing planes and flying on to Lukla airport the gateway to the Himalayas to attempt to climb Mt Everest, returning the first week in June.

The lead Sherpa leading the attempt to climb Mt Everest is Sherpa Phurba, who has successfully accented Everest 13 times.

The attempt at the highest mountain in the world is to recognise its 100 years since the first offical attempt to climb Mt Everest by George Mallary who was only 24 years of age, also the 1953 successful attempt by Sir Edmund Hillary accompanied by Sherpa Tensing also the 1975 by Chris Bonnington, Doug Scott and Paul Braithwaite

Liam is taking Rotary Clubs and Lion Clubs Pendants to exchange with Clubs in Katmandu.

Sefton JFL are delighted to have the sponsorship from Liverpool Heartbeat. Sefton JFL was formed 3 years ago to provide a pathway for young players into league Football.

In the UK grassroots football starts at U7 but a lot of kids start playing a lot younger. Providing the players with structured games allows them to be confident and ready to play once the start in league football.

Although the format looks similar to a league to age and FA rules these are technically one of games each week. Currently there are 40 teams taking part every Sunday morning at LCFA Sefton.

The project was set up by local coaches Louise Worrall and Gerard O'Connor. They both run Northern Sports Academy for children aged 3-9 alongside grassroots club FC Northern. Their passion is player development and Sefton JFL allows them to reach different children across Merseyside.

Social enterprise prepares to deliver 20,000 free creativity boosting boxes to local children

For the workers and volunteers at social enterprise, Split Perspectivz, December has started with a whirlwind of activity as they face their biggest and most audacious challenge to date: to create and deliver up to 20,000 Builder Book boxes to children in the local community in time for Christmas.

The boxes have been created at a time when many families across Merseyside are struggling to make ends meet to ensure that children don’t miss out on receiving books, stationery and papercrafts designed to inspire creativity.

Natalie Reeves Billing, Jude Lennon and Joe Totti began creating Builder Book boxes as a “labour of love” earlier this year, initially-hand delivering 500 boxes to locations including Claire House, the Liverpool Six Community Centre and The Drive.

Once they’d seen the impact that their boxes were having on families, they were determined to find a way to roll out their deliveries on a much bigger scale, with their new and improved Builder Boxes.

Natalie Reeves Billing said: “This has been a huge undertaking for a small social enterprise, but we’re on a mission to get our boxes out into the community where they’re needed the most, and we’ll be delivering 15,000 Builder Book boxes in Merseyside alone.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the volunteers who’ve joined us in putting together the Builder Book boxes on the festive production line we’ve created at our office. It’s taken an unbelievable amount of hard work from everyone involved, and the scale of the challenge seemed almost insurmountable for a small team, but we’ve been driven by our belief that all children deserve to have access to books and stationery.”

In a social media post, Natalie stated: “This project has involved logistics, marketing, pallet wrapping, haulage, large van rentals, 40ft containers, storage units, huge manpower, printing presses, constant deliveries, forklift trucks, pallet pumps, assembly lines, hundreds of hours of design time, web resources, feedback forms, internal paperwork systems and checks, PAYE and payroll creation, VAT registration, accounting on a whole other level. So much. And we have faced it all and overcome everything in such a short window.

“The amount of hard work and determination that’s gone into this is unreal. Sheer commitment and focus. Tough manual labour, lifting, carrying, bending, hundreds of paper cuts (seriously). Having to turn away friends and the chance of fun to knuckle down, it’s been lonely sometimes, but always at the back of my mind, I kept telling myself what we were doing this for. To make sure kids get something special at the holidays, something they can keep and make their own. A little world inside a box.”

Inside ten of the Builder Book boxes, there’ll be a golden ticket (Amazon vouchers with a value of between £25-£50 within a golden envelope) and Natalie, Jude and Joe are counting down to getting the boxes into the hands of children in the North West.

Their festive mission has already attracted attention with Liverpool and Knowsley council ordering boxes with HAF funding via the Department of Education, One Knowsley, LCVS, MPAC and Liverpool Heartbeat. Fairplayed Media Ltd, and Split Perspectivz themselves have also invested in a large number of these imagination boxes for local children. The Christmas quest has also attracted media attention, with North West Tonight recently interviewing the team about the difficulties of delivering such a large scale project during the global paper shortage.

The Builder Book team will be working every day until 21st December to ensure that their boxes are all ready in time for their Christmas deliveries.

David Booth is a Liverpool based Journalist

David spent many years as a writer and sub-editor at the Daily Post and Echo. After leaving the Echo in 2009 he completed a full-length action-adventure film script titled The Glass Palace Games, set in 1860s Liverpool and London against the backdrop of John Hulley's Olympian Games and the American Civil War spies and ship-building.

Mount Everest Challenge

A group of friends from the North West will set out this week to train in the Himalayas ahead of an attempt to climb Mount Everest next year.

Tri-4-Life European Challenge 2003-06

Liverpool Heartbeat have supported Tri 4 Life through their many challenges. The European challenge began in 2006 with 3 years of fundraising, raising a total of £32,000 with £18,000 in kind totalling £50,000. This money was raised through Robin and Liam which also seen the two of them visiting schools in Newcastle, Liverpool, Telford, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford, and the English-speaking school in Brussels reaching 10,000 young students with the Tri 4 life road show fronted by David Graham. All schools raised funding for a charity for their choice. We had a lot of support from Rotary with the Tri 4 Life team visiting over 60 Rotary clubs on their matrix journey. As can be seen in the attached photograph with the Rotary pendants above the team.

Tri-4-Life USA Challenge 2012

This saw the Tri 4 Life senior and junior teams cycling from Washington DC to Los Angeles, 2800 miles across 10 states visiting 12 cities, gifting Liverpool Heartbeat globes of Liverpool City and presenting lifestyle shows along their journey. The event took 2 weeks raising the profile of John Hulley healthy lifestyles, Rotary Internation Project Polio Plus, and raising money for The Herbal Life Foundation.

Lesotho Challenge 2014 (Spitfire)

While the Tri 4 Life team competed in the Lesotho mountain sky mountain bike race, Liverpool Heartbeat secured 200 bikes from the Liverpool City Police and sent them by container along with a life-size model of a Spitfire plane. The reason for the Spitfire and the bikes were a thank you to Lesotho for providing 2 squadrons of Spitfires (24 in total) during the Second World War to help the war effort.

7 Extreme Swim Challenge 2016

While the Tri 4 Life team completed all these swims successfully, Liverpool Heartbeat provided 'The Dipper' minibus not only to help out with the swims but all of the challenges.

Four Peak Challenge 2017

The Tri 4 Life team successfully completed the 4 peak challenge and also swam the four biggest lakes in the vicinity using Liverpool Heartbeats minibus and performance studios minibus. At the start of the event, Robin and Bren provided a barbeque for all the junior and senior teams at the bottom of Snowdon.

British Virgin Island YEP (Youth Empowerment Project) 2018

The Tri 4 Life team as usual lead by Liam, visit the island or Tortilla in the British Virgin Islands after the island had been devastated by a hurricane, lending their support to let them know that we were all thinking about them and competed a programme of cycling and running with the YEP. Robin and Brenda sent out a sight box from St Vincent's visually impaired school in Liverpool and Liam and the team presented it to the YEP programme to be passed on to the blind school on the British Virgin Islands.

200 swimmers will take part in this epic and historic event.

This year we have 200 Swimmers registered for this exciting and popular Across Mersey Swim that will take place on Sunday 19th September, organised by Liam Hanlon from Tri-4-Life in conjunction with Liverpool Heartbeat.

Anyone familiar with the Wirral Peninsular and the iconic views of the Liverpool skyline will relate to the mystic allure of the mighty River Mersey. An ever changing mural of activity that has shaped this great city and surrounding areas for many centuries.

People can relate to the city and the river for many diverse reasons. For a select few however, the river itself has provoked a certain desire since the first recorded successful swim across the Mersey in 1863 and swimmers from every generation since have faced the same challenge against an ever changing tide of bureaucracy.

The first recorded ‘Across Mersey Swim’ was organised by John Hulley (The Forgotten Man of British Olympic History) as part of the Grand Liverpool Olympic Festival in 1863. The swim attracted nine swimmers, with thousands of spectators watching the swim from both sides of the river.

Only two managed to finish, had swum over five miles and were in the water for nearly two hours.

TRIUMPH FOR MERSEYSIDE SCHOOLS

Schools from across the North West region converged on the Blue Coat Chambers recently for an award-giving event masterminded by Liverpool Heartbeat. Over the last two terms Liverpool Heartbeat had organised a competition open to schools in the area to ‘put ART in the heART of Liverpool. The response was enormous as mailbags arrived at the Liverpool Heartbeat offices with each daily delivery. And what amazing talents the competition brought out from the young people of Merseyside. Former Marvel Comics editor Tim Quinn was one of the judges and said, “It was a delight to be a part of this competition. The entries were extraordinary, capturing real soul and imagination in ways I’d never seen before. It was a real eye-opener showing the amazing talents of the young people of Merseyside. I applaud the schools who took part.”

Prize-giving at the Blue Coat featured winners being presented with a library of books kindly donated to Liverpool Heartbeat by the publishers Wordsworth and Dorling Kindersley together with specially designed comic book covers by Marvel artist Russ Leach. Students and teachers alike were heard to comment that it was ‘the best day of my life’. Good work, Liverpool Heartbeat!

John Hulley Cup Golf Day 2021

Formby Hall Golf Club was the venue for this year’s John Hulley Cup Golf Day. The course was well presented and the playing conditions could not have been better.

The day proved a great success and was very well attended. Some excellent golf was played, none more so than that from Nick Hale, who collected the John Hulley Cup after a back nine count-back with Alan Lewis…both having returned scores of 41 points.

Nick’s 25 points ’scratch’ golf on the back nine proved the diﬀerence in the end!

Third place went to Aled Evans after another back nine count-back with Frank Richardson, both having scored 40 points.

James Doyle collected the Longest Drive award with a reported distance of 340 yards on hole 18.

The Nearest the Pin awards went to James Clayford on hole 6 and Richard Hands on hole 16.

Congratulations to all the winners.

I would like to thank Formby Hall Golf Club for their hospitality, Vic for helping with the registration, Kevin for running his eagle eye over the top placed cards, Graham for stepping in for David Bailey and Steve for helping to present the awards…and his speech!!

Liverpool Heartbeat arranged for former Marvel Comics editor Tim Quinn to make a visit to Knowsley Lane Primary School in Huyton.

The school was celebrating a special Beatles Day so Tim gave a unique presentation telling the story of the band and how they became linked to Marvel Comics.

Tim also told the assembled pupils about the four times he went to see the Beatles live back in the early Sixties.

The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day, dressing up in true Sixties style with one teacher even dressing as the Yellow Submarine.

today more than any other day we feel broken, we miss Adam so much and are heartbroken that he was so cruelly taken from us, but we will never give up our fight for justice EVER!!

you will now have seen in the echo or heard on the radio updates from the police and details about Adams case. One of the most heartwarming things is we found out 2 people that want to remain anonymous have made a donation one for £10,000 and one for £4000.

We are completely blown away by these generous people.

So this adds to the £10,000 pledged by the police making the sum of £24,000.

£24,000 reward in Adam Ellison murder investigation

Merseyside Police are today, Wednesday 26th August, offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Adam Ellison in Prescot in 2017.

Adam, 29, was walking along a pedestrianised area in Market Place, Prescot at 0.40am on 4th November 2017 with three friends when he became involved in an argument with a number of people on a motorbike.

During the incident Adam was stabbed in the neck with an unknown weapon causing him to fall to the ground.

His friends and a number of passers-by went to his aid and called 999 and the offenders rode off in the direction of Tesco supermarket. Adam was pronounced dead shortly after 2am in hospital.

A number of arrests have been made but all have been released under investigation as enquiries remains ongoing.

A fantastic day of Golf and friendship

History of The John Hulley Golf Cup

Back in 2012 we organised a ‘one off’ golf day, dedicated to the Liverpool legend, John Hulley.

The main organiser a good friend of mine, Ray Parr. Ray had previously been Golf Captian at Formby Hall Golf Club, so it seemed perfect sense to hold the event there. It turn out to be a really great day but as I said earlier, it was a ‘one off’ and even so, it wasn’t possible to repeat the event the following year.

Move on several years and my son Stephen joined a golf society, which was captained by Barry Fairfield. I had been mulling over an idea of an annual golf tournament, again dedicated to the memory of John Hulley and I mentioned this to Stephen. Stephen discussed the idea with BarryFairfield who was happy to run with it.

The First Annual John Hulley Cup Golf Day came to fruition last year with a fantastic day at Alerton Golf Club. This year the event was moved to Formby Hall and after this incredible successful day. I am happy to report that the Third Annual John Hulley Cup Golf Day is already booked to take place this time next year, with Liverpool Heartbeat £500 to the good.

Thank you to all golfers taking part in the competition, who received the First Issue of Liverpool Heartbeat Magazine along with The Tom Murphy Sculptor Trail Map to enjoy a day out with their family finding hidden treasures of Liverpool

The John Hulley Challenge

Fun 4 Kidz is a registered charity that provides out of school provision across Liverpool. We were really fortunate to receive a kind donation of John Hulley comics from Liverpool Heartbeat and so we set the children in our clubs a John Hulley challenge!

The children were set the task of creating something that would continue to share the message of how important it is to look after your mind and body and how John Hulley was a pioneer of his time in creating the modern day olympics.

The response was amazing and there were many creations of posters, poems, activity books and even papier mache models.

After Rob and Bren saw the creative talents of our children we were honoured to be asked to make the flag that would unveil the John Hulley statue. Over 600 children were involved in the John Hulley project and all of our 10 settings were involved in each proudly creating part of this amazing flag.

Through learning about the life of John Hulley we have been able to ensure that his legacy lives on! Thank you Liverpool Heartbeat.

Cleaning John Hully's Grave

Nicky and Mike took time out yesterday to clean John Hulley’s Grave in Smithdown Cemetery.

Both Nicky and Mike done this deed as a thank you to both Bren and I for the work we do in the community.

John Hulley’s grave now stands out like a jewel in the cemetery, just like John Hulley did when he was alive.

What I would like to add is both Nicky and Mike are following on in John Hulley’s footsteps with bringing Healthy Lifestyles programmes through Ultimate Force Organisation that Nicola owns.
